Insurance coverage

While I don't accept insurance, I work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on therapy sessions. There is a calculator above for your convenience.

If you have out-of-network benefits through your insurance, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using this link.

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.

Poui Consulting is a private pay practice. Here’s why:

  • Insurance companies would require me to give you a mental disorder diagnosis in order to determine if they will cover your therapy.

  • These companies may also ask for updates on your diagnosis and how well you are doing. They use this to determine if to continue covering your therapy. This information is often shared with multiple people at the insurance company.

  • Accepting insurance involves having insurance companies decide what I am paid.

  • I value your privacy and I value the services I offer to you.

It is important that you find out exactly what mental health services your insurance policy covers and how to access out-of-network benefits before agreeing to work together. If you have questions about your coverage, discuss them with your plan administrator by calling the member services phone number on your insurance card, or talk with your employer’s human resources office.

Consider asking the following questions when determining if your insurance will reimburse you for therapy:

  • What are my mental health insurance benefits?

  • How can I go about seeing an out-of-network therapist?

  • Has my deductible been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Does my insurance require pre-approval from my primary care physician?

I don’t think I can afford therapy/coaching. What are my options?

Check your out-of-network insurance benefits through Mentaya. Most people are reimbursed 50-80% of the cost of therapy.

You can use your FSA or HSA to pay for therapy.

Your employer might also have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that offers therapy coverage.

Georgia Psychological Association Pro Bono Resources

Open Path Collective offers therapy for $30 to $70.

I accept Loveland vouchers for a reduced rate. The Loveland Therapy Fund provides financial assistance to Black women and girls seeking therapy nationally.

I accept checks, cash, FSA & HSA, and all major credit cards.  Payments are received at the end of each session.

Credit cards are stored and payments are placed via an online, HIPPA compliant system.

Therapy sessions are offered online via a HIPAA compliant teletherapy system.

Additional fees apply for requested documentation and any supplemental services.

Payments are nonrefundable.
